My Real Estate Journey - (The short version)


I grew up in Philipsburg and have lived in Drummond for the last 16 years.  Six years ago I started my career in real estate.  I was with a different brokerage than I’m with right now and after 8 months of realizing that it wasn’t the right fit for me, I moved on and joined Keller Williams.  At the time there wasn’t a Keller Williams franchise in Missoula, so I joined the the brokerage in Helena.  Keller Williams has more leading technology and marketing tools than any other company and it gave me the opportunity to “be my own agent” and to create my own brand.  That being said, my journey did not go without a struggle.  But the obstacles I overcame gave me the confidence and ability to make it in the “real estate world”.  I had to work extra hard to make it in my market. 


You see, Montana has several MLS’s (Multiple Listing Services)... and the rule is “all in or nothing” meaning, if one agent in an office is in that MLS, the entire office is required to be in that MLS.  Since I was a Helena Keller Williams agent I was required to be in the Helena MLS.  Our office was not a member of the Missoula (Montana Regional MLS) so since I was out of the Helena office I wasn’t able to.  It was a struggle, because almost every agent in my area is in the Montana Regional.  It made it much more difficult to compete in my market, and there is a list a mile long to tell you why.  But through creative thinking and “outside the box” strategies I managed to make it work.  I loved the brokerage I was at and I didn’t want to make a change so I had to find a way to make it work. When I first joined, the Helena MLS didn’t even include Philipsburg, Hall or Drummond.  I had to push to have those communities added.  But realistically I was still limited when it came to my competition. I had a harder time creating CMA’s for my clients and getting the latest data on expired listings.  So I teamed up with a couple Missoula realtors who specialized in listings I had which gave my clients double exposure.  The exciting news for me is all that has changed!  Our MLS in Helena has joined Montana Regional!! Finally! And it’s going to only better help agents give their clients the best service possible.  So it’s not just fabulous news for me, it’s a game changer for my clients as well.  It all means more exposure for your home or your land with less paperwork and confusion. My goal is to be a trusted professional in your area and a community and real estate source.
